Symmetry
Symmetry is when a shape or object looks the same on both sides if you fold it or cut it along a line. This line is called the line of symmetry. A shape is symmetrical if one half is the exact mirror image of the other half.
Examples of Symmetry:
1. Butterfly: If you draw a line down the middle of a butterfly, both sides are the same.
2. Heart Shape: If you fold a heart shape in half, both sides match perfectly.
Line of Symmetry:
The line of symmetry is an imaginary line that divides a shape into two equal and matching parts. Shapes can have one or more lines of symmetry.
– A square has 4 lines of symmetry because you can fold it along its middle in different ways, and the parts will always match.
– A circle has infinite lines of symmetry because you can fold it anywhere through its center, and the parts will always be equal.
