Time
Time is a way for us to know when things happen and how long they take. It helps us organize our day and understand the sequence of events.
Parts of the day
There are four parts of the day-
Morning – When the sun rises it is morning.
Afternoon – Time between noon and evening.
Evening – When sunlight starts fading.
Night – When the sun sets.
The Clock
A clock is a tool that tells us what time it is. It helps us know when to do different activities throughout the day.
Parts of the clock
- Face: The round part of the clock with numbers from 1 to 12.
- Hands: The moving parts that point to the numbers. There are two main hands:
- Hour Hand: The short hand that tells us the hour.
- Minute Hand: The long hand that tells us the minutes.

Reading the clock
Understanding the Hour Hand
- When the short hand points to a number, it shows the hour (e.g., if it points to 3, it’s 3 o’clock).
Understanding the Minute Hand
- When the long hand points to the 12, it means “o’clock.”
- When the long hand points to the 6, it means “half past.”
Example-
Days of the week
There are seven days in a week. Each day has a special name, and they come in the same order every week:
- Monday
- Tuesday
- Wednesday
- Thursday
- Friday
- Saturday
- Sunday
Months name
There are twelve months in a year. Each month has a special name and a different number of days. Here is a name of months:

Money
Money is something we use to buy things we need or want. Instead of trading items directly, like toys for candy, we use money to make it easier.
Types of money
- Coins: Small, round, and made of metal. They come in different sizes and values.
- Bills: Paper money that comes in different colors and values.
Coins
Different valued coins have different shapes and sizes that keep on changing from time to time. Nowadays, the coins of one paise to twenty paise are not used. The coins of Rs 1, 2, and 5 denominations are mostly used.
